Cikal founder Najelaa Shihab has been selected as the first Fellow from Indonesia at Harvard Graduate School of Education!

JAKARTA, KalderaNews.com – Najelaa Shihab, founder of Cikal and an education practitioner in Indonesia, has been selected as the first Chen Yidan Visiting Global Fellow from Indonesia at Harvard University Graduate School of Education (HSGE) in Boston, scheduled for November 2024.

As an educator, Najelaa has launched various initiatives and mobilized communities and organizations to enhance the education ecosystem in Indonesia. She established Sekolah Cikal in 1999, focusing on competency-based education and lifelong learning communities.

As the first Indonesian fellow at Harvard, Najelaa will discuss the theme “Leading Systemic Change in a Complex, Multi-Stakeholder Education Ecosystem: A Global Perspective.”

Najelaa is one of six global education experts who will participate, alongside Jonathan Jansen from Stellenbosch University, Lotte Henrichs from Utrecht University, Ludger Woessmann from the University of Munich, Rana Dajani from Jordan, and Ughetta Moscardino from the University of Padova, Italy.

Najelaa will share experiences and achievements in education in Indonesia, as well as discuss challenges, opportunities, and strategies for cross-stakeholder collaboration to create equitable and quality access to education. She will address four related topics: Education Ecosystem, Networks of Educators, Learning Policies and Practices, and Collaboration for System Improvement.

Public support for Najelaa Shihab is pouring in. One of her Instagram followers, Winda Sasmita, expressed appreciation and best wishes for Najelaa’s achievement as the first fellow from Indonesia in the United States.

“Our Real Education Leader From Indonesia. Thank you for all your efforts for Indonesian education so far. May all your good endeavors ahead be smooth and facilitated,” she wrote in a Story post.

Not only Winda Sasmita, but many other figures have also expressed their appreciation and best wishes for Najelaa Shihab, including Iman Usman, Andhika Sudarman, Franka Makarim, Mel Ahyar, and others.

Najelaa Shihab responded warmly to many of these posts, asking for prayers from the Indonesian community.
