KUALA LUMPUR, KalderaNews.com – The ASEAN Youth Conference (AYC) 2025 is currently underway at Taylor’s University, Kuala Lumpur, serving as a powerful convener for over 100 youth leaders and innovators who are not just talking about the future—they are actively writing it.
Under the theme, “Youth Role in Building an Inclusive & Sustainable ASEAN Region,” which directly echoes Malaysia’s 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship focus, the conference, co-organized by the ASEAN Youth Organization (AYO) and Taylor’s Centre for Family Business, has been a dynamic mix of high-energy panel discussions and intense capacity-building workshops, drawing diverse speakers from government, industry, and academia.

Keynote speaker Prof. Prapaporn Tivayanond Mongkhonvanit of Thammasat University set a powerful tone, asserting that “Real transformation is not about replacing what is local with what is global, but about weaving both into a new sense of belonging,” and emphasizing that ASEAN’s future will be shaped by the “language, traditions, and innovations of its young people.”
Associate Professor Dr. Anthony Ho of Taylor’s University reinforced this vision, highlighting the pivotal role of universities in nurturing young leaders through cross-cultural engagement.
Delegates are diving deep into the three ASEAN Community Pillars, with the tangible goal of developing youth-crafted policy papers that will be submitted directly to the ASEAN Secretariat for consideration in the ASEAN Youth Work Plan 2026-2030.
AYO Chairperson Sarah Rauzana underscored the critical nature of this youth participation, declaring, “We want young people to know that their voices are not only heard – they are needed,” especially as the region welcomes Timor-Leste as its eleventh member, ensuring that this platform for intercultural and multidisciplinary exchange truly reflects the region’s full strength.
