
JAKARTA, KalderaNews.com – Multilateral Interaction with Students (MIS), a student-led non-profit organization based at the University of Tokyo, in partnership with the ASEAN Youth Organization, successfully held a three-day summit focused on “Designing a Better Future” in Jakarta.
The event brought together high school and university students from across ASEAN member states and Japan to engage in meaningful discussions on critical issues related to the environment and healthcare, emphasizing youth-driven solutions for a sustainable future.
The summit served as a platform for young leaders to collaborate on solutions for pressing challenges, with dedicated tracks on environmental sustainability and universal healthcare. Lectures highlighted the importance of Japan-ASEAN cooperation, focusing on the role of youth in strengthening ties between the two regions and fostering lasting friendships.

The environmental track explored sustainable development, while the healthcare track delved into ensuring equitable healthcare access, featuring key stakeholders from both ASEAN and Japan.

KIYA Masahiko, Ambassador of Japan to ASEAN, praised the event for bringing together the next generation of leaders and highlighted the role of youth in building connections between ASEAN and Japan.
Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, ASEAN Secretary-General, emphasized Japan’s role in addressing challenges like climate resilience and inclusivity, particularly for the youth in the ASEAN region.
Mr. Ferro Ferizka, Special Advisor to the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture of Indonesia, stressed the value of youth in national development and the government’s commitment to supporting youth initiatives, particularly through technological innovation. He highlighted the power of networking at such events, as the relationships formed would shape the future leaders of tomorrow.
The summit concluded with heartfelt speeches from Vanissa Aulia, Project Director of JAYS, and Hiroki Kimiwada, President of MIS, who expressed their gratitude to the team, stakeholders, and partners that helped make the event a success.
Both leaders emphasized that the summit successfully bridged the gap between youth in Japan and ASEAN, fostering cooperation and creating new opportunities for collaboration. The discussions centered on building a sustainable future for cities, ensuring government-supported healthcare, and enhancing cooperation between Japan and ASEAN.
