JAKARTA, KalderaNews.com – The annual education exhibition opening up study opportunities in Europe, the European Higher Education Fair (EHEF) 2025, has returned to Yogyakarta and Jakarta.

However, if observed from year to year, the event appears stuck in a repetitive cycle and lacks substantive innovation, seemingly presenting a series of campuses that are “just the same old thing.”

Fortunately, this year, the appearance of EHEF 2025 seems “beautified” and given a critical injection of fresh appeal, not from the presence of genuinely new and exciting universities, but from the attendance of major funding providers.

RELATED TOPICS:

Undeniably, one of the main reasons for the crowds at EHEF 2025 this time is the official participation of Indonesia’s two largest scholarship agencies: the Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan (LPDP) and the Garuda Scholarship.

Their presence seems to be an effective strategy to ensure this overseas education fair remains relevant amidst potentially waning interest.

Instead of showcasing breakthroughs in curriculum or genuinely new study programs from European universities, the main focus of EHEF has noticeably shifted to become a scholarship information hunting ground.

The question remains: Does an exhibition that offers relatively the same campuses every year only need to be “saved” by turning it into a funding information center, without offering fresher diversity or more innovative interaction formats?

Europe Opportunities on Offer

Despite the criticism, EHEF 2025 remains a vital meeting point for those pursuing master’s and doctoral degrees. The fair opens up major opportunities to study across various European nations, including the Netherlands, Germany, France, and the UK, which are known for their high educational standards.

The synergistic presence of LPDP and the Garuda Scholarship reinforces the narrative that the dream of studying on the Blue Continent is no longer constrained by cost, but rather depends entirely on success in the increasingly competitive scholarship selection process.

Thus, EHEF 2025 may fail to deliver exhibition innovation, but it successfully fulfills its core function: serving as a marketplace for European study opportunities, heavily bolstered by promises of government funding.

This annual agenda appears set to endure, surviving as long as scholarship funds are ready to fill the booths and attract thousands of prospective students who always dream of free education abroad. It cannot be denied that the majority of visitors’ motivation is to seek scholarships.
