KUALA LUMPUR, KalderaNews.com – The ASEAN Youth Organization (AYO) is honored to host the ASEAN Youth Digital Forum 2023 in Kuala Lumpur from November 15-17.

This distinguished conference serves as a pivotal platform for the convergence of young leaders, providing an opportunity to exchange innovative ideas and solutions for a future marked by digital resilience.

Attracting approximately 250 ASEAN and international youth leaders and change-makers from 15 countries, the event, organized by AYO in collaboration with the ASEAN Secretariat, Selangor Youth Community, and World Intellectual Property, centers around the theme “Building Resilient ASEAN Digital Economy: Youth Entrepreneurs and Intellectual Property Rights.”

Mr. Ye Min Than, a senior program officer from WIPO, addressed the evolving digital landscape, underscoring the pivotal role of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in the digital economy, albeit amid a complex array of challenges.

Lyantoniette Chua, founder of The Ambit and Policy Group Coordinator and Fellow Center for AI and Digital Policy offering insights into AI policies globally about the true of benefit using AI that can analyze and predict potential cyberscurity threats.

Speakers, including Steve Chaves from Ateneo De Manila University, emphasized initiatives to elevate public awareness and education on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), with a focus on innovation through events like hackathons.

Razhuan bin Hussin, Senior Director at MYIPO, stressed the strategic importance of a well-defined IPR strategy for sustainable business growth. Ms. Sereyratha from S&O Law Office presented ASEAN Regional IPR initiatives, such as ASPEC and ATC, aiming to harmonize IPR protection across member states and providing practical tips for businesses to leverage these initiatives.

Mr. Mitchel, a dedicated legal professional, detailed his extensive experience in handling IP-related legal matters, including patent, trademark, and copyright infringements. Similarly, Ms. Sereyratha Chan, a Senior Associate and trademark and Business Registration Attorney at S&O IP in Cambodia, shared her expertise in assisting brand owners with IP rights protection.

Additionally, Daniel Nesan, inaugural session featured esteemed speakers, including Boomgrow, a Malaysian smart farm utilizing AI for organic cultivation. He take advantage of valuable international registration systems.

Mrs. Nor Ruzani binti Razali discussed the role of intellectual property in establishing and safeguarding brand identity, particularly in Malaysia. Addressing contemporary challenges in ASEAN branding, Mr. Mohd Rahimi bin Arafpin from the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) and Gregory Marimuthu, Director of Gateway IP Service in KL, provided insights into recent branding disputes in the ASEAN context.

The conference encompassed three-panel discussions, one-on-one consultations, and networking sessions, covering topics ranging from the digital economy and policy to branding. Delegates collaboratively formulated international project plans addressing challenges and opportunities outlined in the Youth Declaration. The event concluded with a vibrant atmosphere, followed by a dinner and celebration.

Since its inception in 2018, AYO has successfully orchestrated six ASEAN Youth Conferences, fostering youth exploration and capacity development. Senjaya Mulia, Founder of AYO, envisions sustained initiatives empowering youth-driven policies and fostering young leaders in ASEAN and partnering countries, contributing to community resilience and regional development.
