JAKARTA, KalderaNews.com – The dream of Indonesian vocational students to build a career in Germany is becoming a reality.

The German cultural institution, the Goethe-Institut, and ASTRAtech (Astra Polytechnic), have officially established a strategic partnership to integrate German language classes into ASTRAtech’s curriculum.

This collaborative step is not merely an addition of a subject, but a “long-term investment for the global mobility of skilled Indonesian workers”.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) took place on Friday, November 7, 2025, at the Ciputra Artpreneur Gallery. It was signed by the Director of the Goethe-Institut for Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, Constanze Michel, and the Director of ASTRAtech, Henri Paul.

The Bridge to Germany

As a follow-up to the MoU, ASTRAtech is launching an intensive program called the German Language Immersion Class (GLIC). This program is designed to combine language learning, culture, and job readiness in Germany, with the ambitious target of achieving competency levels up to B1 and even B2.

ASTRAtech Director, Henri Paul, stated that this collaboration is a concrete step to prepare ASTRAtech students for further study or professional careers in Germany.

He also hopes that this partnership can strengthen the ASTRAtech Dual System in its synergy with the ecosystem in Germany.

This collaboration serves as a direct answer to a global challenge. Germany is currently facing a shortage of skilled workers and Indonesia has great potential through its abundant human resources.

Constanze Michel from the Goethe-Institut emphasized that this collaboration “not only enriches the students’ competence but also paves the way for a broader cooperation in the field of education and training of skilled workers between Indonesia and Germany”.

The scope of the partnership is extensive, covering the development of vocational higher education programs, student and lecturer exchange programs, joint development of technical training programs and competency certification, and collaborative activities in research and industrial development.
