The EU’s new regional campaign celebrates 11 youth heroes and digital creators shaping a sustainable future across ASEAN.

JAKARTA, KalderaNews.com – The European Union (EU) to ASEAN has launched a groundbreaking regional campaign to celebrate the youth behind progress in Southeast Asia.

Titled “Hands that Move”, the campaign showcases how initiatives supported by the EU-ASEAN partnership are delivering innovative and sustainable solutions that unlock new opportunities for communities and individuals in ASEAN countries.

Through investments from the EU’s Global Gateway strategy, young people are empowered to study, work, and innovate across a more connected region with better services and future opportunities.

This campaign centers on 11 ‘heroes’ and 11 digital creators, one pair per ASEAN country, each focusing on one of the five pillars of the Global Gateway strategy: Education & Research, Transport & Infrastructure, Climate & Energy, Digital, or Health.

The “heroes” are champions of EU-funded initiatives, including educational exchange programs like Erasmus+ and members of the Youth Sounding Board for the EU in ASEAN. In their respective fields, they have pushed boundaries to make a lasting difference, inspiring other youth to do more and better.

Meanwhile, the digital creators are renowned individuals who translate these Global Gateway themes into immediate, human, positive, and culturally relevant stories.

“This campaign celebrates everyday heroes of Southeast Asia whose hands move the world forward,” emphasized Sujiro Seam, the EU Ambassador to ASEAN. “Across the region, students, workers, entrepreneurs, and communities are turning opportunity into action and ideas into real change.”

In Indonesia, the faces of this campaign are Mujibur Rahman, the young Chief Operating Officer of Greenprosa, and Jerhemy Owen, a prolific and popular digital content creator. Both share a strong commitment to protecting the planet and promoting sustainable waste management.

“We turn waste into hope, income, and a cleaner future for our communities,” stated Mujibur, adding that many parties, including the European Union, are willing to join their journey to develop multiple sites.

Evaluating the impact, Jerhemy added, “Mas Mujib and Greenprosa are inspiring us and reminding us that our future and the key to change are in our hands.”
