A total of 90 Indonesian students have secured Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s (EMJM) scholarships for 2026 to pursue master’s degrees across Europe.

JAKARTA, KalderaNews.com – Proud news comes from Indonesia’s higher education sector as 90 Indonesian students prepare to pursue their master’s degrees in Europe through the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s (EMJM) program for the 2026 academic year.

Out of the total successful candidates, 78 students secured fully funded scholarships directly from the European Union (EU), while the remaining recipients received funding through partnerships with universities, partner institutions, and private companies.

The EU Ambassador to Indonesia, Denis Chaibi, stated that the Erasmus+ program represents the EU’s tangible investment in developing Indonesia’s human resources while strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and Europe.

During the event, the EU also launched the EU Youth Alumni Circle Indonesia, a platform designed to strengthen the networking of alumni from various EU cooperation programs.

The EMJM scholarship is widely recognized as one of the most prestigious master’s scholarships globally due to its interdisciplinary nature and multi-country involvement. Unlike typical overseas scholarships, EMJM has distinct characteristics, including:

Cross-Border Mobility: Scholarship recipients are required to study at at least two different universities in different European countries during their 1-to-2-year study period.
Joint or Multiple Degrees: Graduates can earn a single official diploma jointly signed by the consortium of partner universities (Joint Degree) or two separate diplomas from each respective institution (Multiple Degree).
Comprehensive Funding Coverage: Includes full tuition waivers, a monthly living allowance of approximately €1,400 per month, health and travel insurance, and financial support for travel, relocation, and visa processing.

Tips and Application Timeline for Prospective Applicants

For those intending to follow in the footsteps of these awardees for the 2027/2028 academic year, the application period typically opens in September or October 2026, with selection results announced around May–June 2027.

Unlike other scholarship schemes where applicants apply to the funding institution first, Erasmus Mundus applicants must apply directly to the target study program’s consortium through the official Erasmus Mundus Catalogue on the EU website. Applicants are allowed to choose up to three study programs.

Bachelor’s degree certificate and academic transcripts (translated into English by a sworn translator).
Motivation Letter or Statement of Purpose.
Recommendation Letters (2–3 letters from lecturers or supervisors).
Curriculum Vitae (CV) in Europass format.
Valid passport.
Proof of Residence.
