JAKARTA, KalderaNews.com – The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is demonstrating its commitment to create a climate-resilient city, as evidenced by the issuance of Governor’s Regulation (Pergub) Number 90 of 2021 concerning Regional Climate Resilient-Low Carbon Development Plan (RPRKD).

The Governor of DKI Jakarta Province, Anies Baswedan, said that the Plan is a comprehensive regional level regulation for integrating mitigation and adaptation in DKI Jakarta’s climate change actions.

“DKI Jakarta is the first province in Indonesia to have an RPRKD in accordance with the mandate of the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN 2020-2024). And for the first time, through this plan, climate change adaptation actions are regulated in a legal product,” said Governor Anies.

“The commitment is to realize the city of Jakarta as a climate-resilient city, and our ability to accelerate the achievement of the target of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 30% and ambitiously reduce direct GHG emissions by 50% by 2030, as well as net zero emission in 2050,” explained Governor Baswedan.

The Plan is also in accordance with the Paris Agreement, which is the global agenda for dealing with climate change.
